Flash vs. Mac OS X (Leopard)

Flash iconWhen it comes to Flash, Mac OS X really likes to throw its weight around, particularly regarding keyboard shortcuts. One of the most important shortcuts in Adobe Flash, the ability to create a keyframe, is rendered useless by OS X’s implementation of Spaces.

So I turned OS X’s mind control experiment over my keyframes and I’m good to go. I figured that if you’re new to Macs, you might want to know how to do this too.

THE HOW TO

First, click the Apple icon in the top, right of your screen. It doesn’t matter what application you’re in - it’ll work. In that menu, choose System Preferences.

Next, look for the Keyboard & Mouse button (on my computer it’s the 3rd last icon in the 2nd row). Click that and choose the Keyboard “tab” and scroll down until you find “Dock, Exposé, and Dashboard”.

Under there (under where?), you’ll find a checkbox next to Spaces. Uncheck that. Then go back into Flash and you’ll find yourself able to create keyframes with the press of a button! HOORAY!

QUICK HOW TO

  1. Click the Apple icon (top, left)
  2. Choose System Preferences
  3. Choose Keyboard & Mouse
  4. Choose Keyboard
  5. Scroll down and uncheck “Spaces”
  6. Make keyframes in Flash! ZOMG!
