“Tying a scarf to a microphone stand is unfortunately no longer a marketable skill,” IndustryWeek editor David Blanchard said. “To compete in today’s job market, you need to diversify your skill set. Someone who can not only sing, but also play tambourine and haul heavy equipment, is infinitely more valuable to a company.”
Hi, I'm Mathew Hoy!
I am the CEO of HellaBoss, an ultra-creative laboratory based in London, Ontario, Canada.
I am the co-host, editor, and animator of The GAMES DAY Podcast, an awesome video podcast about video games. You can watch the show on Vimeo and iTunes.
When I'm not doing that, you can either find me drawing and animating in Flash, or playing my XBox 360 or PS3 (both my XBL gamertag and PSN id are HellaBoss). I also have a Wii but have no idea what my friend code is - like 2135 numbers or something?.

Next week's show - Controls
While we’re hard at work editing last night’s episode* about War Games (no Broderick, pls), we wanted to give you plenty of time to prepare for next Wednesday night’s show - Controls.
We’ve created a Facebook thread about the topic. Join in our discussion about your best and worst game control experiences. Any games that were terrible? Anything that really stood out as the pinnacle of how games should be controlled?
Also, think outside the yoke - not just games, but the controllers themselves. Have you used any controllers you wanted to throw across the room in frustration?
*Just so you know, our main editing computer had to go into the shop for repairs so there is a chance we might be a bit behind publishing the November 11 episode of the show. Thanks for your patience.
Bird “sings” through feathers.
Up all night
I find it hard to relax completely, even when I’m sick. Last thursday I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with an early case of pneumonia. I had the xrays, an ECG, and had to wear a face mask the whole time - which cussed the other people there to look at me like I was patient zero in the recent h1n1 pandemic.
I spent the last few days relaxing. For me, relaxing means reading and writing code for some personal projects I have on the go.
This weekend also marked the first real time ferris hasn’t had an afternoon nap. Instead of sleeping for a few hours, he just stayed in his room and chilled out with his toys. This lack of a nap definitely made a very pregnant mama bear and a sick papa bear have even more a weary day than normal.
While working on one of my projects tonight, my iMac froze up and on reboot shows only a white screen. This doesn’t bode well for Wednesday nights show.
I’m heading back into the office tomorrow. After all that’s happened lately, wish me luck!
