gamesdaypodcast: On this episode of The GAMES DAY Podcast, we talk about the iPad and discuss gaming on it and how much Matt thinks it’d improve his ability to play. We also talk about Mass Effect 2 and Best Buy’s inability to hold a preorder and George Harrison’s son, Dhani. Thanks for watching on Vimeo and iTunes (and if you’re watching on iTunes, don’t forget to rate the show). As always, send...

Mass Effect 2 prelim thoughts
gamesdaypodcast:
Picked up Mass Effect 2 this past week after having it on hold at Best Buy (more on that on Episode 36 - when I get it uploaded).
Having played it for about eight hours over the past few nights (and therefore not really fair to give it a full review), I thought I’d make a few points about what I like so far and what I don’t.

The character involvement is pretty...
Balloons, Boats, and Anchors
I have a theory that there are three types of people:
Balloons
Boats
and Anchors
Balloons
Balloons are awesome. They are the friends and family who help propel you to great heights. They are the wives who refuse to book financial planning meetings on Wednesday nights because that’s when you record your nerdy podcast. Balloons are your friends who sit on a couch with you and listen to...
The 3 Facebook Settings Every User Should Check... →
In December, Facebook made a series of bold and controversial changes regarding the nature of its users’ privacy on the social networking site. The company once known for protecting privacy to the point of exclusivity (it began its days as a network for college kids only - no one else even had access), now seemingly wants to compete with more open social networks like the microblogging media...
From gamesdaypodcast: On this episode of the show (that Matt almost missed!), we chat about Olympic video games, track and field games, and take some strolls down memory lane. Why do you find so many copies of Olympic video games at your local used game shop? We’ve got some ideas on how to make them better. Thanks for watching on Vimeo and iTunes (and if you’re watching on iTunes, don’t forget to...
GDP on iTunes →
gamesdaypodcast: Hey! Do you open iTunes much? Maybe you have an iPod that you fill with all of the hottest hits, or the most awesomest video game soundtracks (seriously, have a look for the Mass Effect soundtracks - you won’t be disappointed). Maybe you are a musician and use iTunes to organize your tunes, or maybe you download audio books, podcasts, or keep track of the apps on your iPhone with...
Episode 36 - Gaming news! →
gamesdaypodcast:
On Episode 36 of The GAMES DAY Podcast, we’ll be getting together over a platter of ‘chos to talk about as much gaming news as we can. Among other things, you can be sure that we’ll be talking Mass Effect 2, which comes out the day before the show is broadcast. We want to know - what gaming news has jumped out at you over the past little while that’s piqued your interest? Use...
Why Tumblr is kicking Posterous’s ass →

gamesdaypodcast: If you live in Canada and haven’t heard, there’s something kinda big happening in BC in a few weeks and we’re going to talk about it on the show tomorrow night! But we’re not affiliated with it. And we’re not trying to get rich off of it (do people actually get rich doing something like this?).
But we do have many fun and interesting gaming experiences to share with all of you...
Indie+Relief →
maniacalrage: All proceeds made on January 20, 2010 will be donated to Haiti. You get great software, Haiti gets financial help in its time of crisis. Buy any of the software listed tomorrow (Wednesday) and developers will donate the proceeds to charities for Haiti relief. I’ve been working on this site all weekend—it’s amazing how difficult it was to design a clean layout for that many listings...
From gamesdaypodcast: This week, Matt, Mathew, & Ian are back in Dorchester, Ontario talking about the weather and how it relates to games. We talk about snow effects in games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the universal concept of ice in games like Mario Wii, and more. Mathew gets his hate on for game developers who design levels with snow but don’t pay attention to detail. You’ll see....

This is brilliant - hacking an Ivar ladder from IKEA to make a camera dolly. Pretty smooth sample video in addition to the provided photos.
The Onion is so good →
“At first glance, high school senior Lucas Faber, 18, seems like any ordinary gay teen. He’s a member of his school’s swing choir, enjoys shopping at the mall, and has sex with other males his age. But lately, a growing worry has begun to plague this young gay man. A gnawing feeling that, deep down, he may be a fundamentalist, right-wing Christian.”

Google's new approach to China →
Google has decided that in an effort to fulfill it’s moto “don’t be evil”, it’s going to either stop censoring content in China (by working with the government), or to abandon China and shutter its offices over there. Good for them.
Your pal, John K. →
In 1998, aged just 14, aspiring young cartoonist Amir Avni decided to get in touch with the creator of Ren & Stimpy, John Kricfalusi. Being a hardcore fan of Kricfalusi’s work, Amir sent him an introductory letter along with a few cartoons he’d drawn, some of which contained relatively unknown characters of John’s. To call Kricfalusi’s response ‘generous’...

Animated paper prototypes →
Really like these animated prototypes as not only a method to illustrate how a system works without having to build extensive systems.

Darksiders review (360)
From over at gamesdaypodcast:
I picked up Darksiders the same day I preordered Mass Effect 2 (BestBuy didn’t give me the limited edition print the flyer said I would get with DS - make sure you ask for it if you pick it up). Darksiders was supposed to be a interim game that I’d play while I waited until ME2 came out. I figured I wouldn’t play any more than a couple of hours tops, here and there....

Threadless 365 →
The idea behind this behind-the-scenes photo set of Threadless is completely brilliant.
Not only do you get to have fun with the Threadless team, but you also get a sneak peek into how they do things.
Some of the photos (the image above, right, for example of all of the wooden screens containing parts of all of the Threadless prints ever printed) in this set are incredible.
