From gamesdaypodcast: After a full 12 hour day of gaming and taping GDP Overdose (available soon), we sat down at midnight to talk about our games of the year and reveal the winners of our Holiday 2009 contest! Watch and see what our picks of the year were. Congratulations to our contest winners - your goodies should be in the mail shortly! Thanks for watching on Vimeo and iTunes (and if you’re...
A Mathias Christmas
First, the goods: another great post by Dee (Amy) Mathias on their Xmas gifting this year.
A couple of these ideas really stand out for me:
Shopping for gifts 6 months out from gift-giving events (making it easier to find games, toys, etc. before an Xmas rush makes them all hard to find)
Each person gets three gifts (to help limit the amount of stuff that collects in our house).
After Xmas...
Making air travel safer →
Reading this article, I was struck with an, “Oh yeah - I supposed security would be crazy in Israel, wouldn’t it? How many layers of plastic bins full of shoes, laptops, belt buckles do they have? How many handbags do they restrict for flyers?”
Interesting article - I agree with everything they’re saying. It didn’t occur to me until reading this that instead of...

Canada Post Red Mailbox Locations
After walking through the snow for 30mins looking for a mailbox for my Xmas cards in 2009 and eventually finding one with a sign that said it was moving, I decided to create this map using Google Maps. The map is public and allows you to mark the location of any red mailboxes you know/find on it so that others who are looking for mailboxes can find them easily.
I realized how spotty mailbox...
In this awesome episode, Matt, Mathew, and Ian sit down across from a roaring fire and regale the audience with Xmas tales of wonder and woe. Matt talks about his family’s holiday traditions and brings an amazing prop to the set while Mathew spins a tale of family travels and Billy and Jimmy Lee. Ian reminds us of the hardship of Xmas with a cautionary tale of good intentions gone horribly...
OMG, The GAMES DAY Podcast is holding a holiday contest! We want to know what game in your collection we should own by filming your own “Out of the Vault” segment! Pick a game that you own and record a 30 second video (text submissions welcome too but should be at least two paragraphs long) explaining why a game is in your collection, and why it should be in everyone else’s...
In this episode the guys are reunited and talking about mature titles for the C64 (including Farmer’s Daughter and Sexlympics), and discuss some more conceptual topics ranging from how women are portrayed in games (funny we didn’t talk about how men are potrayed - next time maybe?) and mention Alyx Vance. As always, send feedback to fans (at) gamesdaypodcast (dot) com.

Marco Arment:
Unlike other publishing sites’ approach to backups, our goal was to create a useful copy of your blog’s content that can be viewed on any computer, burned to a CD, or hosted as an archive of static HTML files.
Wherever possible, we use simple file formats. Our backup structure is optimized for Mac OS X’s Spotlight for searching and Quick Look for browsing, and we’ll try to use the...

I have a problem and it is Diablo 3 →
Having made my last post about Diablo 3 videos, I will likely be spending most of my non-baby night at Blizzard’s Diablo 3 website looking at trailers and gameplay videos. This game can’t come out fast enough.
Cross-media crapfest
Having had a baby on December 4th (maybe you heard about it?), @theniffer and I have been taking turns watch her and getting some rest. Part of that rest includes watching some movies we have on our iMac downstairs, that feeds our PS3 via wifi in the room directly above it using MediaLink by Nullriver.
For the most part, playback is decent and hassle-free. However, in some random cases, movie...

Guppy Keynote 2009
We’re posting photos to Flickr. More will be added as they come.
Unlike my last post, this Guppy Keynote IS for the birth of our 2nd child. Please share this post (and the one before it) with everyone you know so you and they can follow along with the adventure.
As the adventure unfolds, I will be updating this blog post. If you want to follow along, you’d do well to click on the...
HellaBoss Guppy Kenote 2006
This is the keynote written for when Ferris was born in 2006. It is a play-by-play account of the entire time we waited for him to appear, and then after he was here. It’s an exciting (and at times, disturbing) read.
This keynote IS NOT FOR GUPPY NUMBER TWO. Jennifer hasn’t gone into labour for the new baby. I repeat, this is a pre-game catch-up from last time’s...
gamesdaypodcast:
